To be adopted means that a person who is adopted has full legal standing as an heir. A person who is adopted is not randomly selected, the person is chosen. God has predestined us for adoption to sonship through Christ. He has chosen to give Christians full legal standing as heirs of God. This is in accordance to his pleasure. We can be adopted because this is what he wants. It brings him pleasure to bring us in and to give us legal standings as heir in Christ. We didn't talk Almighty God into forgiving us, we can't earn adoption, we do not deserve to be called children of God. His hand is extended to us because it brings him great pleasure.
