Check your motives

All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the LORD. Proverbs 16:2

As people, most of our choices are based on bringing value to ourselves. Helping others and doing good may seem pure to a person. But what is the motive behind the act of doing good? Imagine you see a man helping an elderly person across the street. That seems to be an awesome act of kindness. But why did the man help the elderly person across the street? He helped the elderly person across the street because he wanted to impress his girlfriend with his kindness. Nothing gets passed the Lord. The man thinks he has stored up treasure with God but the reality is the Lord knows his motive. The man helped the elderly person for selfish gain, not because he loved the person and was wanting to be kind. If his girlfriend was nowhere around he wouldn't have helped the elderly person. What things are you doing in your life that may seem right but perhaps the motives are wrong? May the Lord give his children pure motives. #timetochange #lifeundertheson
