For those who identify with their old nature set their minds on the things of the old nature, but those who identify with the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. Having one's mind controlled by the old nature is death, but having one's mind controlled by the Spirit is life and shalom. For the mind controlled by the old nature is hostile to God, because it does not submit itself to God's Torah - indeed, it cannot. Thus, those who identify with their old nature cannot please God. Romans 8:5-8
When we turn from trusting in ourselves and trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ, our old identity passes away and we are born again with a new identity. Our old nature was a life of sin and rebellion. We were cut off from our Creator and lived a life apart from our value and purpose. In our new nature we are born of the Holy Spirit, created to live and operate in the SAME WAY Christ did when he walked the earth. We are to live in our new identity. We are to live a life fully surrendered to the Holy Spirit. Christ paid the price for this to happen. It is rebellion if we do not honor the Lord and walk in our new, God given, identity. Let us honor Christ by identifying with our new nature. #timetochange#lifeundertheson
